Dr. Elena Vasquez is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon with over fifteen years of experience in sports-related knee and shoulder surgery. She completed her residency at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a sports medicine fellowship at Duke University, training alongside team physicians for collegiate and professional athletes.
At CSRI, Dr. Vasquez performs ACL reconstruction, meniscus surgery, rotator cuff repair, and arthroscopic shoulder procedures. She is known for her direct communication style and her emphasis on setting realistic return-to-sport expectations from the first consultation.
Dr. Vasquez co-founded CSRI in 2019 and serves as Medical Director. She believes outpatient surgery — paired with structured, on-campus rehabilitation — gives athletes the best path back to competition.
Outside of practice, she volunteers with a youth soccer program in Cary and enjoys trail running with her family.
